A friend of mine is cycling through China which will take about 6 months. She only has a month's tourist visa at the moment and wants to know how often and for how long she can extend it without leaving the country.

Any clues?

It can be done but not with much certainty as to how many times... is she initially looking to extend it here in Nanjing?

Also worth looking at some agents online who can always advise on the current situation.

Officially, according tho the current visa regulations for those applying outside of China, a 6mth tourist visa is only for those married or with other family etc here whilst others would at best get 3mths. If your friend had originally gotten the 3mth visa then for certain you can extend it once no trouble but very unlikely to get a 1mth extended enough times to get 6mths up.

Again, maybe an agent can do it.

I would also like to know how often an L visa (tourist) can be extended within china.

My current 90 day L visa expires on the 24 January and I've got my registration papers and form etc ready to request a 30 day extension.

My Chinese friend who accompanied me said I can only do this extension once but I've done some googling tonight and read in multiple places that it can be extended twice.

Anyone done this recently?
